Across the Baltic states, Moller Auto has seen an overall increase of 28% in used car sales volume in comparison to 2023. Latvia has experienced the most substantial growth, followed by Lithuania and Estonia.
Izīda Gerkena, Executive Director of the Moller Auto Group in the Baltics, commented on the growth: "The used car segment in Latvia continues to evolve and stimulate buyer interest for several reasons. Firstly, the market has a significant number of lightly used vehicles, which are up to five years old, offering buyers the feel of a new car at lower costs. Secondly, the competitive pricing of used vehicles makes them more accessible to a broader customer base. Lastly, we have developed a 'car on demand' service that allows customers to specify their requirements, including desired model and technical specifications. Our specialists, in cooperation with our international partners, then provide the best possible vehicle options to meet these demands."
Currently, Moller Auto dealerships offer a multibrand inventory featuring approximately 25 car brands. While trends in neighboring countries are similar, Volkswagen models lead in popularity. In Lithuania, the most favored models are the Volkswagen Passat, Škoda Kodiaq, and Volkswagen Tiguan; in Estonia, the Volkswagen Tiguan, Volkswagen T-Cross, and Volkswagen Passat are the top choices.
Looking to the future, Gerkena anticipates continued growth and evolution in the used car market, adapting to the ever-evolving consumer desires. "We live in an era where automotive technology is advancing rapidly, the market is becoming more personalized, and lightly used cars are entering the secondary market more quickly, which from a consumer's perspective, opens up broader opportunities. The 'car on demand' service, previously more popular in new car sales, is now a highlight in the used car segment, indicating that we can expect new levels of personalization in used car options in the future," emphasizes Gerkena.
